Gibsons Italia is a place to see and be seen. Frequented by business moguls and impeccably groomed women, the waiters/waitresses are also attractive, the food is flawlessly presented, and the menus are heavy. A friend and I fortunately got reservations on a Saturday night. The place was packed with gorgeous women with their quilted Chanel purses and men sporting tailored suit jackets, and there was a decided "networking vibe" of sorts courtesy of dandies sipping cocktails/wine at the bar mixed with celebratory graduation dinner parties of 5+ people. There was a stray part of 2, a couple enjoying date night perhaps... I ordered the classic cheese risotto with sea scallops. The scallops were voluminous, well-seasoned, and scrumptious. We also ordered the fresh focaccia bread that came out piping hot and accompanied by a ricotta-balsamic vinaigrette spread, the arancini cacio e pepe (breaded and fried cheese and risotto balls), and meatballs in a delicious marinara. For dessert we ordered a chocolate mousse cake (the birthday cake) and tiramisu. Pricey but well worth the expense.

Incredible meal and dessert at Gibsons Italia! Service was impeccable and the view makes for great ambiance. A must visit Chicago restaurant!

Gibsons Italia is an absolute staple in Chicago, and we've never once left disappointed. The consistency of excellence is remarkable. Every visit guarantees a delightful experience. The pasta dishes are a standout feature, boasting freshness and traditional flavors with every bite. The seafood tower, a masterpiece of presentation and taste, offers the perfect variety of shellfish, showcasing the ocean's bounty in a captivating way. The steak was cooked perfectly, and they were even nice enough to cut it into thin slices to share with the entire table!

The waiter recommended some house pasta to go with main dish...the Branzini Great service - from the hostesses, manager, waiter and staff. Thoroughly kind and attentive. Loud and festive...lots folks celebrating of all occasions. The Mediterranean roasted Branzini is not to miss if you're not here for steaks. The banana gelato is the best dessert we've had in a long time...big enough for 4 to share. Highly recommend.

Occupying a prime location at the confluence of Chicago's North and South branches, Gibsons Italia boasts a modern ambience and breathtaking riverfront vistas. Arriving at 11:00 AM on a weekday, I had the distinct pleasure of being the first guest. However, by noon, the restaurant buzzed with activity, underscoring the recommendation for reservations. My exploration commenced with the steak salad ($26), a visually stunning composition featuring grass-fed Australian strip steak atop a bed of baby kale. Accented with avocado, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, and shaved parmesan, this creation was further elevated by a perfectly balanced balsamic vinaigrette. The steak, meticulously prepared medium-rare, delivered an exceptional eating experience, particularly considering its generous portion size and remarkably reasonable price. While the lamb chops ($67) were undeniably flavorful, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, and accompanied by a delightful mint pesto and shallot combination, the price point seemed slightly excessive for two chops. The Spumoni Baked Alaska ($15) unfortunately fell short of expectations. Encasing spumoni ice cream (a triad of chocolate, pistachio, and maraschino cherry) in a thin layer of brownie, the entire dessert remained frozen solid, failing to achieve a textural contrast or deliver a truly impressive flavor profile. I would advise diners to explore alternative dessert options outside of Gibsons Italia's menu. In conclusion, Gibsons Italia excels in its steak offerings. The quality of the cut, the masterful execution (particularly evident in the perfectly cooked steak salad), and the value proposition solidify this establishment's well-deserved reputation. The attentive service and captivating riverfront views further elevate the dining experience. While the dessert selection appears less impressive, Gibsons Italia undoubtedly merits a visit for its exceptional steak dishes.

First time visit for birthday celebration. My expectations were high based on so many recommendations. Service was great. We had Elizabeth and she made the experience really enjoyable. We had several dishes and notably the NY Strip was good, and the potatoes were excellent! Overall, go for the views which are spectacular on a clear day. If you can request a table by the window definitely go for it!

I recommend a reservation but there are sometimes open tables in the bar area that are first come first serve. This restaurant is beautiful and the service is always spectacular. Every dish is cooked to perfection and wonderfully seasoned, you cannot go wrong with any of the dishes. The drinks are always exactly what you need after a long day. A cappuccino or an old fashion, you will not be disappointed. Do yourself a favor and try the apple and pumpkin buddino for dessert and thank me later.

Wow. Couldn't have been a more spectacular night. Gibsons is the cream of the crop, we decided to give Gibsons Italia a spin and we were blown away. Attentive and caring staff from start to finish. The menu is somewhat extensive and we were indecisive, our waiter helped us find a few selections that we must try. We opted for more of the Italian experience over steaks. Bourbon selection was fantastic - I opted for a pour of their Weller 107 barrel pick, which was ridiculously good. Apps we tried: -Arancini were delicious but not sure if I'd order again as we had so much to eat and the other apps were the best -Focaccia bread and ricotta is a must order. -Meatballs were some of the best I've ever had. Also a must order. Very hearty and zesty. Mains: -Chicken Parmesan - huge cut of chicken, we split this and ordered 2 separate pastas. I believe this also came with a small side of the spicy rigatoni which was to die for. -Spaghettini & meatballs - usually I don't order this but after having the meatballs appetizer I had to have more. The pasta was so good and is comparable to the feel of pasta you might get in Italy. -Cacio E Pepe - my wife ordered this, looked great. She also complimented that the pasta was premium quality and handmade. Overall a fantastic night. The layout of the restaurant is amazing with fantastic views over the river. Gibsons Italia is a must visit for anyone who comes to Chicago.

First time here and the vibe, the drinks and the food are spot on! Taylor, our bartender on the second floor, was absolutely amazing. Great recommendations for both food and drink along with great conversation. We had the King crab, the meatballs and the steak tartare! All three excellent choices. The smokiness of the tartare and the texture - hands down probably the best I've had!
